Retail Refugees

The future of Retail too?

The CEO of European low cost carrier Ryanair recently went on record saying that Europe “needed a recession” and predicted that by the end of it the Continent would have just four airlines: British Airways, Lufthansa, Air France and, obviously, Ryanair.

This sentiment was obviously met with scepticism, but is it possible that is is actually the future of the airline industry?  And if that is true, could retail be far behind?   I suppose that big brands will continue to dominate with economies of scale and greater distribution, but I really hope that the small independent retailers will continue to thrive in the face of the current and coming crisis.
