As I reported yesterday, Gucci is planning a string of pop-up shop openings throughout the world celebrating their upcoming sneaker collection. After this initial news broke, Gucci followed up with some images of the new collection which was designed in part by Mark Ronson. “Gucci Ronsons for the brand’s upcoming series of sneakers-only pop-up shops, the first of which comes to NYC this October. The three styles the brand is previewing include a chukka, a deck shoe, and a more traditional sneaker, which, with their bright colorways and preppy styling, call to mind the footwear of another of Ronson’s favorite lines, Band of Outsiders. It’s a smart move, we’d say, to push limited editions with one of the few guys left with the cred to make them must-have. Avid kick collectors will no doubt want them all—but since a new style will be released at each new pop-up on the tour (currently planned to include London, Berlin, Paris, Hong Kong, and Tokyo), they’d better have a few frequent-flier miles at the ready.
Gucci Ronsons will retail for $500 to $600 at Gucci Icon-Temporary pop-ups this fall; the first opens in NYC’s Soho, October 23″ (via Men.style.com)
